Dear John,
MATTERS ARISING FROM THE EIGHTH MEETING OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION – FILLING THE POST OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE DESIGNATE IN THE EDUCATION AND SKILLS AUTHORITY
Under the revised arrangements which now provide for OFMDFM to act as the gateway to government, I am writing to you to convey the Commission’s position on the above post.
As you know, officials from the Department of Education submitted various papers and attended two meetings of the Public Service Commission to make a case for proceeding to run an open competition to fill the post of Chief Executive Designate for the proposed Education and Skills Authority.
Having regard to the oral presentations and taking into account all the documents supplied, the Commission concluded that, in order to safeguard the interests of staff, an on a ‘without prejudice’ basis, it is not necessary to have a more limited competition on this occasion.
I have copied this letter to Will Haire.
Yours sincerely
STEPHEN J GRAHAM
